NCR Traffic Advisory: Major Restrictions from 13th to 15th August 2025 for Independence Day Preparations

New Delhi, 13 August 2025 – In view of Independence Day celebrations and heightened security measures across the National Capital Region (NCR), authorities have announced significant traffic restrictions and diversions from Wednesday, 13th August to Friday, 15th August 2025. Commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance to avoid delays and disruptions.

Key Traffic Restrictions

13th August (Wednesday) – Full Dress Rehearsal

  • Road closures around Red Fort, Daryaganj, ITO, and Chandni Chowk between 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
  • Diversions will be in place on Ringo Road, Netaji Subhash Marg, and surrounding routes.
  • Limited access to motor stations in Central Delhi during rehearsal hours.

14th – 15th August – Independence Day Security Measures

  • Heavy barricading and restricted movement in central zones, especially towards Red Fort and ceremonial routes.
  • Noida–Delhi & Ghaziabad–Delhi routes will face diversions from 10:00 PM on 14th August until Independence Day celebrations conclude on 15th August.
  • Gurugram & Faridabad will have similar restrictions on NH-48 and Mehrauli–Badarpur Road.
  • Strict security checks at entry points, diversions, and possible traffic delays throughout the NCR.

Weather Advisory

  • Heavy rainfall on 12th August has led to waterlogging in multiple parts of Delhi-NCR, which may worsen delays.
  • NCR commuters, especially in Noida, Ghaziabad, and South Delhi, are urged to stay updated on weather and road conditions.

Special Traffic Advisory – Mehrauli Route Diversions

Due to road cave-in near Masoodpur Flyover:

  • The stretch from Masoodpur Red Light to D-6 Vasant Kunj Red Light towards Mehrauli is shut.
  • Light vehicles heading to Mehrauli from Vasant Kunj will be diverted at Masoodpur Red Light onto Sector-B Road, Vasant Kunj.
  • Traffic from Mehrauli towards Gurugram is advised to take alternative routes instead of the Mehrauli–Gurugram Road.

Recommendations for Commuters

  • Avoid non-essential travel to Central Delhi on 13th and 15th August.
  • Check live traffic updates and keep alternate routes ready.
  • Factor in extra travel time if heading towards Red Fort, India Gate, or other central landmarks.

Bottom line: With full dress rehearsals, Independence Day celebrations, security checks, and weather-related issues, the NCR is expected to witness heavy traffic snarls over the next three days. If travel is unavoidable, plan ahead, leave early, and follow official traffic advisories
